Hempel’s Beatles Tour
Star Club
1962: On the 13th of April the legendary Star Club opens its doors in the Grosse Freiheit 39. The Beatles play on the opening night. They have two more engagements the same year, now with Ringo Starr on drums and their famous “moptops”!
The Beatles play their last concert on New Year’s Eve of 1962. After that they return to England. Only a few months later the “Beatlemania” will spread out over England and very soon after all over the world.
With about 280 concerts on Hamburg stages, living among seamen, barmaids, female mud-wrestlers, rockers, and “Exis”, the Beatles “grew up” in Hamburg, as John Lennon put it.
